Start making the arrangements related to your moving destination.
4-5 Weeks Before Your Move
OK, so you are now getting closer to the big day and there are more issues that require your attention. In this pre-move phase you will start pinpointing your move needs and start making the arrangements related to your change of address, packing, moving, and knowing your new location.
Change of Address
This is the right time to write down a list of all of those you want to notify in regards to your move and new address.
Here is a list for example:
Don't forget to make arrangements with all service providers in the new location as well. Provide them with your arrival date and try to set deactivation date to one day after you leave and activation date to one day prior to your arrival.
If you decide to pack yourself, make sure that all packing materials are ready. That includes boxes, shrink wrap, bubble wrap, tape, padding paper, etc. start packing items that you don't use often. [for example the unused wardrobe]
If you are moving with children, it may be a good idea to get them more involved in the moving process. One way to do so is to allow them to help with packing. Be sure to supervise them while they are packing and allow them to pack only unbreakable items.
Start organize your move by deciding and making lists of what items you will not transport, what items your mover will move and what items you will move yourself.
Check local requirements for new driver's license, I.D. card, and car registration in your destination state.
