Best Moving Apps

Before, during, and after a move, there are a great number of tasks to be handled simultaneously. With technology at the forefront of our everyday lives, there’s an App to help with every aspect of moving. Whether it’s finding a moving company, ordering supplies, or organizing checklists and budgets, there’s an App to simplify your move and keep you on track.

Organization Apps

The emphasis on being organized is essential for a Stressless Move. Knowing what needs to get done, and when, is vital when coordinating a move. Moving Checklist, Fantastical and Wunderlist are three apps that can make creating a to-do-list simple and easy to manage.

Moving Checklist – Is a free app for Android and iOS that helps keep track of your tasks. Based on your moving timeline, the app will recommend tasks to be completed. In addition to writing your checklist, and keeping notes, you can email reminders to yourself. If you need to change your address or voter registration info, links are available from within the app.

Fantastical – Having a calendar on hand to help plan the timeline of your move and arrange your Moving Checklist is vital. With the award winning App, Fantastical, you won’t need anything else. The app costs $4.99 and can only be used with iOS.

Wunderlist – The app is free and can be used on all major devices. You can create lists, set reminders, and share information with other people, and assign task from within the application.

Looking For A Home

Zillow - If you will be searching for a new home, either to rent or purchase, Zillow is a great app to use. It lists properties within the United States and navigation within the site is simple and user friendly. You can use the filters to find properties based on your preferences. Rental costs and mortgage rates can also be calculated within the app. Zillow is free and compatible with Android and iOS.

Google maps – When looking for a new home, having a mapping tool to preview areas of interest can be pretty handy. Google Maps allows you to see homes and neighborhoods in street view, and with over 220 countries mapped, you can view almost anything, anywhere. Google Maps is free.

Hired Help

With every move there are a number of small jobs that need to be done. And for each of these chores, you can hire help. To connect you with people of the trade, there are apps to make it easier.

TaskRabbit – With this app, you’ll find people to help you with various services around the home, such as disassembling/reassembling furniture, running errands, and general handyman skills. Choose one of the tasks, when it needs to get done and TaskRabbit will give you a list of "Taskers" who are available, along with their pricing and reviews. The app is free, but your credit card will be charged once you book a task.

Dolly – This app is designed to connect you with muscle when needing help with moving, hauling or junk removal. You can also hire muscle and truck if you do not have your own vehicle. Dolly is a free app.

Selling

CraigsList - Once you start organizing and packing for your move, you might find that there are some items that won’t be moving to your new home. Craigslist is a great platform to sell all kinds of things. It’s also a great place to purchase various items if you need anything for your new home.

LetGo – is a marketplace where you can sell and buy locally. Like Craigslist, you can find a large assortment of items.

Inventory

Sortly – Track your inventory digitally. It’s an organizer that allows you to take inventory visually and tag, take notes, generate labels and even keep track of items that have been borrowed and when its time to get them back. This app has many more features, is free and has been featured in Forbes, Fox news and ABC news.

Layout Of Your New Home

Magicplan – Use the camera on your phone to create floor plans of your new home. You can see the space in 3D, allowing you to plan the interior layout and take a virtual tour.

Ordering In

Preparing for a move and settling into a new home can take up much of your time. Being able to order and have delivered, some basic groceries or cleaning supplies can be extremely helpful and time saving, especially when you need to feed any hungry helpers.

Instacart – You can have groceries delivered within one hour of ordering. Or, you can include in one of your organizational apps a reminder to order groceries to be delivered the day you arrive at your new home. Free with iOS and Android.

– Available in over 200 cities, Postmates can deliver food and alcohol in under an hour if needed. Free with iOS and Android.

With all these great moving apps to help make your move easier, everything will be organized and in one place. Now choose the apps you think you’ll like, and start downloading!
