Learn how to properly pad and place items in a dish box.

What items can go into a Dish Box:

  • Fragile items
  • Pots and pans
  • Cookware
  • Bakeware
  • Plates
  • Glasses
  • Mugs
  • Bowls
  • Tableware
  • Dishware
  • Cutlery
  • Kitchen appliances

Pad bottom of the box with packing paper

Place heavy items on box bottom and lighter & fragile items on top.

Be very generous with paper when packing a dish box.

Create paper layers to protect and separate between items.

Use bubble wrap when needed.

Fill empty spaces with bubble wrap or packing paper.

Important:
Remember to condense the box tightly with packing paper (see Box Basics video).

Some items are not permitted to be moved. Your moving company can provide you a list of non-allowables.

Do Not Pack

  • Fire arms
  • Ammunition

Do Not Pack - Liquids & Flammables

  • Liquid cleaning supplies
  • Propane tanks
  • Gas tanks
  • Aerosols

Do Not Pack - Heavy

  • Boxes should not be too heavy for one man to maneuver.
    Pack heavy articles such as books in smaller boxes.
    Use large boxes for lighter items like linens, clothing etc.
