Deadhead
The distance that a moving company's driver has to drive empty to pick up a load from a paying customer.

Declared Value
A declared value is a moving company's maximum liability for loss or damage to the customer's goods. It is set by the customer's indication of the value of the possessions he is shipping. If no value is declared, the liability is established by the rate charged from handling the shipment.

Divider
A divider is usually installed in a trailer to separate different shipments and to secure them while in transit. Many moving companies, especially coast to coast moving companies, will combine your shipment with other shipments to fill up a trailer and will use a divider.

DOT (Department of Transportation)
The DOT is the federal agency, which, through the Surface Transportation Board within the Dot, governs the interstate transportation industry, including movers of household goods.

Destination Agent
A destination agent is the person designated by your moving company in your destination to assist or provide information to you regarding your shipment.
